Was The Kristen Stewart Cheating Scandal Faked

Was The Kristen Stewart Cheating Scandal Faked
An odd "Today Show" appearance by Kristen Stewart fuels rumors her cheating scandal was fabricated.

The cheating scandal between Kristen Stewart and Rupert Sanders shocked fans and appeared to destroy the relationship between "Twilight"-franchise superstars Stewart and Robert Pattinson. Rumors of infidelity were instantly questioned by fans -- some even going as far to speculate the photos of Stewart and Sanders were Photoshopped. Fueling the fake cheating scandal movement was the immediate apology Kristen Stewart released following the publication of the photos. Stewart, who is notoriously private about her love life, was suddenly an open book full of regrets and remorse.

This morning Stewart continued to stir up the press when she coyly avoided questions about her romance with Pattinson in the Stewart-Sanders aftermath. "Today Show" co-host Savannah Guthrie asked Stewart if she was back together with Robert Pattinson. "Funny you mention that," said Stewart. "I'm just going to let people watch whatever little movie they would like to think our lives are and go for it." She continued, "Keep 'em guessing, I always say."

We are just going to ignore the totally condescending comment Stewart made about her fans and move straight into speculation mode. The "Los Angeles Times" wrote Stewart's response seemed rehearsed, as if she had known of the question prior to Guthrie's asking. Moreover, they suggest "Today Show "producers might have needed permission to ask Kristen the point-blank inquiry into her Pattinson attachment. We agree with both of these conclusions.

Which leads us back to this: Was the Kristen Stewart cheating scandal faked to drum up press for
" Breaking Dawn -- Part 2"? Maybe this surge of scandal, rumor, heartbreak and romance that seems to follow Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart is a major bonus -- even a fabricated bonus -- for studio executives to cash in on.

And even if the scandal was real, and Stewart really did cheat on Pattinson with director Rupert Sanders, we have to acknowledge the surge of press is good for "Twilight" executives who want to fan the romance flames -- good or bad -- between Stewart and Pattinson for as long as possible. Preferably until at least a few weeks after "Breaking Dawn -- Part 2" hits theaters.

Maybe that's what Kristen Stewart's reaction on the "Today Show" was really about: the difficult lives celebrities lead because after all, their choices are often limited to calculated moves surrounding image and profits. No wonder Stewart and Pattinson seem so disillusioned.
