Flashback Friday British Engagement Rings Part 2

Flashback Friday British Engagement Rings Part 2
We began our mini-series on royal conflict rings with some of the best-known examples, windswept by some of greatest pronounced Windsor ladies. Currently we pick up with supercilious British family members, as well as some less pronounced rings.

THE DUCHESS OF WINDSORWhen she in due course married her present love, the abdicated Emperor Edward VIII, Wallis Simpson wore an large Colombian sea green, just under 20 carats, set in a ring from Cartier which was adorned "We are ours now 27.X.36" (WE being their initials, plus the date they chose for their conflict - which was the day her divorce was granted). It was fundamental set in a simple platinum setting, but she had it reset in a supercilious trendy diamond leaf setting like on. The ring was auctioned with the rest of her jewels records a long time ago her defeat.

PRINCESS MARGARET, THE COUNTESS OF SNOWDONAntony Armstrong-Jones made a pleasant candor for his fianc'ee, selecting a ring described as "a ruby set like a rosebud with a diamond marguerite", for Princess Margaret Rose.

VISCOUNTESS LINLEYPrincess Margaret's son, David, gave Serena Stanhope a diamond ring on a decorative gold band and a gold conjugal band, what's more from Wartski.

Lady SARAH CHATTOPrincess Margaret's kid usual an old style band ring from Daniel Chatto, a well-matched candor for an artist.

PRINCESS ALICE, THE DUCHESS OF GLOUCESTERReturning to the family leaning of sapphire conflict rings, Prince Henry vacant Lady Alice Montagu Douglas Scott with a simple in line sapphire ring.

THE DUCHESS OF GLOUCESTEROne of the supercilious unique rings we'll see is the one Prince Richard, studying to be an actress, intended for Birgitte van Deurs - a wide and tangled snowy ring set with coral. I don't problem the Duchess happening it these kick, even as her appearances are so low key it would be easy to miss the elucidation.

PRINCESS Embrace, THE DUCHESS OF KENTPrincess Marina's conflict ring is described by Leslie Continue as a "in line 7 carat Kashmir sapphire with a baguette diamond on either side set in platinum".

THE DUCHESS OF KENTMarina's ring set a sapphire leaning in the Kent family - the present Duchess has an egg-shaped sapphire with a cook diamond on either side.

PRINCESS ALEXANDRA OF KENTMarina's kid Alexandra moreover has an egg-shaped sapphire flanked by a diamond on either side, set in platinum.

PRINCESS MICHAEL OF KENTAnd one hindmost sapphire ring for Princess Michael - a cook sapphire and diamond, stones Prince Michael is alleged to unite hereditary from his father Princess Embrace, who died a decade to the fore their marriage.

And that's it for the Windsors! As I alleged, this is not categorically comprehensive - feel free to add additional rings in the clarification. Adjoining time: we jump British shores.
