Divine Feminine Sacred Sisters

Divine Feminine Sacred Sisters
"Have you ever walked around in a listless fog, knowing your purpose and not knowing how to share it? That would be me." " Alphonse Mucha"The divine feminine is an ancient idea, a philosophy, a trend and a faith simultaneously. The revival of the the pro-feminine divine movement can rightly be traced back to the early modern witchcraft revival. But who or what is the divine feminine? In my opinion, it is energy that is passive, nurturing, active in its fluidity, receptive, unconscious, tricky and concave. It is energy in its potential, where the masculine would be energy in its activity. Together, both energies, opposite and intermarried create and adjust and destroy existence. They, in my eyes are not literal goddess or god, moving in a LITERAL sexual dance of creation...no, i have an education and know that evolution is a fact. I see the dance of life, death and rebirth as many energies, each with an opposite, and those opposing energies are feminine (passive) and masculine (active). Part of the universal unconsciousness, part of the evolution of life- hell- the very stimuli of it. "Religion, in my eyes, is just the poetry of science; the fable or legend that lends to the Why while science itself is the How. The divine feminine is important to so many witches, of both genders because it represents an equality that hasn't been seen in a long time. The womb- a sacred life carrying vessel- akin to the cup and cauldron has long been seen as a taboo subject or a great burden. The divine feminine that exists in females is the ability to have a womb, use a womb, or for those of us with fertility problems, our ability to chemically and emotionally understand the feeling of "maternity" whether we can contribute to fecundity or not.For men, their divine feminine energy may manifest itself as their relationship back to the womb- either in their own mothers, their lovers or their daughters. They are the product of the power of a woman, and that alone is sacred.Worship of the divine feminine has taken on a trendy tone- Starhawk and Budapest having a lot to do with it... but i appreciate their contribution to the idea that women and men share an equal spiritual value, and that this nurturing mother planet is a grand scale version of the womb. The camaraderie that comes from the belief in divine equality and appreciation for the opposing energies is what so many witches seek to find and fulfill. The sacred sisterhood that comes from finding other women who share in the mysteries of the labyrinth of the womb and the path of fertility (having nothing to do with child-baring and everything to do with creativity) is supposed to be a spiritual experience to be cherished. Yet, it is very hard to find others who share in the idea that divinity is not a literal person sitting up in the heavens dictating life and death- they are abstracts, ideas, energies that coexist- as much a part of the grand scheme as anything and anyone else.I suppose these ideas drive, in part, my interest in finding others to work with spiritually. I always believed that some day i would be a writer of fiction, a maker of crafts, a leader of spiritual ideas and the founder of a place of study- a school or some temple where ideas from everywhere that are rooted in ancient beliefs and philosophies can be shared openly and preserved as the world moves forward into new ways of thinking. I imagined i would live in a place that was "going green" becoming eco friendly and non-threatening to the general environment and that i would be able to live pretty off-the-grid before i'm 30. I imagined i would be a part of a circle of other women (i prefer to work with women for personal reasons) who are like minded, strong, independent and faithful to the greenwood and all its connections.I imagine that the divine feminine is a connector of spirits, because it is, by nature, the nature of bonding. I can only hope that moving around the world with open eyes will let me see those connections wherever they are, and find them sacred.I found this poem on my new friend Nikiah's beautiful blog/site. She is so damned inspiring."TEMPLE SPINNERI am dreaming back my sistersWhisper-worn footfalls in the Temple stepsSkywalkersStorm dwellersHeavy-breasted cauldron keepersSongweaversSnake-sistersDarkmoon dancersLabyrinth buildersStar bridgersFiery-eyed dragon-rydersWind seekersShape shiftersCorn daughters Wolf womenEarth stewardsGentle-handed womb soundersDream spinnersFlame keepersMoon birthersCome sisters, come homeBY: MARIE ELENA 1999
